It’s just under a month now to Christmas, and I have been throwing myself into Christmas activities for our family. My time has been invested into making an advent calendar for this Christmas.
We started this tradition with the Little Man last year, and for my family, the lead up to Christmas is all about the story of the birth of Jesus.
Being the tight wad that I am, I’ve been using up my stash of scrapbooking paper to make it – this is when hoarding craft supplies is a plus! I’ve spent a few hours cutting out and making my envelopes from a template that I made. Packed each one with a bible verse and a lolly( I used a bag of Starburst Fruity Chews). Sealed the envelope up and decorated them with number stickers. Here’s the printable of Advent Christmas Verses if you looking for some.
The next big thing that had to be done was to find the perfect place to hang all 25 envelopes. This year I decided that the fireplace would be ideal! Using some tinsel and clear paper clips it’s all hung up ready to be enjoyed in the next few days. What do you think? Looks pretty doesn’t it!
It isn’t too late to make one for if you are keen. There are lots of great examples on pinterest; some complex and time consuming and some real quick – all you have to do is buy some lolly bags and some stickers, or get these here for free. Easy peasy!
Is the advent calendar part of your family tradition? If so, I’d love to see it
